When we experience something so intense it feels like (or actually is!) a threat to our bodies, our connections to loved ones, or even our lives, it's common to feel a complex universe of emotions: we might feel any combination of scared, angry, hypervigilant, worried, or sad, and it's also common for trauma survivors to develop negative false beliefs that it was all our fault, we deserved it, or that the whole world and everyone in it is bad. These experiences can feel all-encompassing, but they do not define you. Using trauma-specific therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), we can help guide you through the process confronting and feeling your way through the many complex responses you may be having to trauma and into a new place of healing and peace.
Depression and anxiety are very common in our society, but the fact that that they're common doesn't mean they're not uncomfortable and painful. Through a combination of certain talk therapies (primarily Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, we can help you learn to accept thoughts and feelings without judgment and recover your motivation, perspective, and interest in living your best life. Additionally, for those who are interested in going deeper, we can use techniques from trauma-specific therapies to help you identify, address, and resolve root causes of patterns and choices that may be holding you back from thriving in your life.
Are you going through a transition that has you questioning your purpose or direction? Wondering what your life is all about? Struggling to connect to your authentic self? We can help! Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we will explore your values, your goals, and your history to help you connect to what makes your life meaningful to you.
Your past is a part of your experience, but it doesn't need to define you. Reach out to schedule an appointment and see what's possible!
